This is actually useful. I set mine up (moons ago) that way and use it with laptop closed and mounted on wall behind my big monitor. But the laptop started acting up. First, the fan started making a lot of noise (noisier than when laptop sitting flat on desk), and then it started heating up, especially when I'm using several applications at the same time, and it keeps going to sleep on me. What could be causing that?

Bro you went into sleep mode. You dont need anything to wake PC from SLEEP mode. WAKE ON lan from PCIe devices are meant for hard shutdown state of your PC.

I never had the warm light on my old kindle, but i do not use it on the ipad so I will probably not need it. I think the only thing I'll miss is the self-adjusting light, but this is so worth it!
